Aphasia Therapy

Effective, easy to use software programs for aphasia therapy. Use them independently or with a speech therapist for aphasia treatment.

Aphasia software Thousands of patients and speech therapists have used the Bungalow aphasia software since 1995 with tremendous success. Patients often use this software independently (in home or clinic), which motivates them and gives them more opportunities for therapy. You can even try a fully-functional version from Bungalow's trial CD or download a free trial.   Helen Talley's story (below) is typical of the successes

How the software works

There are a variety of programs for different types of aphasia.  They use the same methods that a speech therapist would use, such as showing the patient a picture, word, sentence, etc., and letting them respond, then evaluating their answer and giving hints and suggestions as needed.

This is not simply "grading software" the tells the patient how well they are doing.  This interactive-software moves beyond that to actually give the patient just the right amount of feedback so they can work independently at the limit of their ability, and thus make greater improvements. We call this making the brain "sweat". Just like a physical workout at the gym, we want to really exercise the speech center of the brain. [More info on how the software works]

Easier and more productive

Wilson Talley using aphasia software.Quote about speech therapy softwareBungalow is great. My husband [Wilson] spends several hours a day working on it. His progress was quite evident in the therapist's follow-up evaluation. Bungalow should share in the thanks."

The two most common categories of aphasia are Expressive and Receptive:

Expressive Aphasia usually manifests as difficulty naming pictures or objects, in writing and/or speech. If you ask the patient to name objects you point to, they probably can't name all of them (without assistance), but can often repeat back if you say the word first.  If they can not repeat the word they may find an articulation therapy program helpful.

Expressive Aphasia Software:

Receptive aphasia usually involves difficulty comprehending ("receiving") language: Comprehending what they read and what is said to them.

Receptive Aphasia Software

Reading comprehension

Auditory comprehension
